Superintendent of Schools Announcement

Doug Nicholls

 announced as the new Superintendent of New Humble Community School Association



The New Humble Community School Board of Directors is pleased to announce Doug Nicholls as the new Superintendent of Schools effective November 24, 2023.


Doug has an exemplary record with over 35 years in education as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, deputy superintendent and superintendent. He has worked in four different school authorities: Battle River School Division, Black Gold School Division, Prairie Rose School Division and most recently as Superintendent of Fort McMurray Public School Division. Doug holds his Masters of Education Administration and has been recognized on multiple occasions for his work with various groups. This includes the President's award from the Alberta School Councils Association and the Heroes of the Wildfire Award from the regional municipality of Wood Buffalo and the Province of Alberta. Throughout his career Doug has impacted multiple organizations through presentations at the National Rural Congress, College of Alberta Superintendents’ conferences, Public School Boards’ Association and by co-founding the Alberta Rural Education Symposium.

We are confident that he will guide us towards our elevated aspirations, empowering our students and fostering their individual and academic growth."


“I am delighted to join the New Humble Community School team.  I look forward to supporting the students, staff, parents and Board of Directors as the school continues on its journey.  What has been accomplished to date by all the stakeholders is most impressive. It is very exciting for me to play a role in the school's future.” said Doug Nicholls.


Doug lives in Beaumont with his wife Roberta. They have four adult children and seven grandchildren.
