NHCS Facility
New Humble Community School Association is a public charter school, with one facility (New Humble Community School) which is located in a previous school building. NHCS currently has a lease agreement with the school division that currently holds title to the building and land.
New Humble Community School has existed and operated on the same piece of land
since 1900, before Alberta was a province. It is an integral part of our community and history. Ownership of title remained in the hands of community members up until December 12, 1961,
when it was transferred to Leduc School Division #49 and subsequently transferred to
Black Gold Regional Division #18, as it was known at the time.
Recently, the New Humble Community School Association (NHCSA) formally requested that
Black Gold School Division (BGSD) transfer title ownership of the building and land back to the
community that had safeguarded it through the majority of the 20th century. The motion to
transfer title was subsequently defeated. The community has engaged in lengthy discussion and would like to bring awareness to the current situation we find ourselves in. The
community strongly believes that the school and land on which it lies should remain a cornerstone of the community and one in which the school has complete autonomy over.
