Magnetic Mary from Teacher's Pet recently visited the Grade 1/2 class. Students learned various facts about magnets such as polarity, types of metals, and uses of magnets in every day life. Students completed four different hands on activities that met different outcomes. First, students predicted and then tested objects to see if they were magnetic. There were many surprising results! Secondly, students experimented with magnetic fields using clay and magnets. In the third experiment, observed the magic of magnetic slime! Students charged different materials with a strong magnet. Lastly, students got a magnetic toy that they got to take home. Students constructed a dog park and using their magnet and magnetic toy, they feed the hungry dogs in the park.
A big thank you to Magnetic Mary & Teacher's Pet for visiting our classroom!
